About the role

Commure is developing an AI operating system to modernize healthcare delivery, documentation, and financial workflows. We are seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to design and scale the infrastructure that supports our clinical and administrative products.

What you'll do

• Define the technical roadmap and architectural standards for our backend services.
• Direct complex engineering projects from initial concept to deployment.
• Guide architectural strategy across various internal teams.
• Develop secure, high-performance distributed systems for healthcare operations.
• Provide technical mentorship and conduct design reviews to maintain code quality.
• Enhance system observability, performance, and internal developer tooling.
• Collaborate with clinical, product, and infrastructure departments to deploy technical solutions.
• Manage and maintain services using our core technology stack.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience in backend development for distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Python or Go with a focus on modern architecture.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and influence team direction.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, microservices, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• History of building reliable, scalable systems and making high-level architectural choices.
• Strong communication skills and experience mentoring other engineers.
