Developer Relations
Job description
Developer Relations at comfy-org.
About the role
As the inaugural Developer Relations specialist, you will define and execute the strategy for how developers engage with Comfy's platform. This role involves both external advocacy and internal representation of the developer community's needs. You will foster a thriving ecosystem for those building with Comfy's APIs and extending its capabilities through custom nodes.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Guide developers from initial workflow conception to production deployment using Comfy's programmatic interfaces.
- Engage with current Comfy users to understand their production pipelines and gather insights for product improvements.
- Create and distribute production-ready sample applications and starter templates, focusing on robust error and secret handling.
- Be the first to test new API surfaces, identifying and reporting any integration difficulties to the engineering team.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive developer documentation, including tutorials, guides, and API reference materials.
- Provide support and resources for custom node developers, including documentation for extension points and migration guides.
- Organize and lead live sessions such as office hours, workshops, and hackathons for the developer community.
- Represent Comfy as a technical voice through written content, video demonstrations, and active participation in AI developer communities.
Requirements
- Ability to build and deploy production-grade applications using APIs without extensive external assistance.
- Prior experience integrating third-party APIs or self-hosted services into a product, with a clear understanding of associated challenges.
- A portfolio of technical content that has been genuinely useful to developers, such as tutorials, code repositories, or documentation.
- Experience with API, SDK, or developer platform products, and a strong perspective on their usability.
- Sufficient knowledge of generative AI concepts (checkpoints, LoRAs, samplers) to effectively communicate with users.
- Capability to provide direct and persistent product feedback, even when immediate implementation is not feasible.
- A self-starter mentality, comfortable with establishing new functions and operating without a predefined roadmap.
- Proficiency in Python or TypeScript is preferred, but strong skills in Go, Rust, or C++ with an ability to adapt are also acceptable.
Nice to have
- Background in media, VFX, game development, or other creative production pipelines.
- Capability to contribute to platform code, such as SDKs, authentication flows, or API surfaces.
- Opinions on effective documentation tooling and strategies for maintaining accuracy.
- Direct experience using ComfyUI or developing custom nodes for it.
- Experience with open-source products that have large, active communities.
- Ability to serve both self-service developers and large enterprise integration teams simultaneously.
Practical notes
This is an OnSite role in San Francisco. The interview process includes a recruiter screen, technical conversation, behavioral conversation, and an onsite visit. The onsite will involve reviewing your published work and a practical exercise where you build against our API and provide specific feedback on its usability. Compensation is between $150,000 and $200,000.
