Staff Platform Engineer

About the role

This role focuses on enhancing the core cloud infrastructure that supports all Collibra products. You will play a key part in shaping our multi-cloud platform strategy, refining our use of Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, and automation to boost efficiency and reliability.

What you'll do

• Guide the development and expansion of our cloud platform across AWS and GCP, covering Kubernetes, networking, and fundamental infrastructure to help product teams deploy and manage services smoothly.
• Establish and refine platform components like CI/CD pipelines, observability tools, and service templates to simplify developer tasks and increase productivity.
• Create and maintain shared data platform services, including operators written in Go, Kafka, and Neo4j, to offer scalable and dependable data solutions.
• Collaborate with product engineering, security, and SRE teams to promote platform best practices and ensure secure, compliant, and resilient system designs.
• Mentor fellow engineers, advocate for technical quality, and reduce cloud expenses through automated solutions.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of production experience managing infrastructure on AWS or GCP.
• Practical experience operating Kubernetes and service mesh technologies, with a preference for Istio.
• Solid understanding of cloud networking concepts, including VPCs, routing, load balancing, WAFs, and network policies.
• Demonstrated experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and software development in Golang.
• Experience managing or supporting the underlying infrastructure for stateful applications, such as GraphDB or Kafka, in cloud environments.
• Familiarity with cloud security principles like IAM and security groups.
• A bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with other service mesh technologies besides Istio.
• Familiarity with additional cloud platforms beyond AWS and GCP.
