Crypto Options Trader
Job description
About the role
This role operates within the trading and research team to manage a book and develop options products. Responsibilities center on market making, risk oversight, and strategy refinement for crypto assets.
Software engineers turn product ideas into working code. Engineers work in small teams, review each other's work, and ship in small batches. Most teams follow agile practices such as sprints and daily standups. Engineers also write tests, fix bugs, and improve performance. The field values clear communication as much as technical skill. Engineers spend part of every week on planning, code review, and debugging, not just writing new code. The ability to explain a technical decision in plain words separates strong engineers from the rest.
Key facts
What you'll do
Market making in crypto options generates revenue and controls risk through active book management.
Real-time volatility surfaces for assets such as Bitcoin and Ethereum are constructed and maintained by pricing and volatility models as a principal market maker.
Short-term mispricing is identified and options market-making is executed using systematic strategies developed by the team.
New options strategies are prototyped, backtested, and deployed through collaboration between research and development, enabling new products to be distributed.
P&L and Greek exposure are analyzed deeply to evaluate performance and refine trading models during post-trade reviews.
Governance and control infrastructure for trading activities are monitored by Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Finance functions.
Requirements
A degree in Financial Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or Economics is earned from a top-tier institution.
The role typically requires 3+ years of hands-on experience in options trading across equities, FX, or crypto and algorithmic market making.
Technical execution and analysis rely on strong programming capabilities, particularly in Python.
An in-depth understanding of FX, equity, and crypto market mechanics, including CeFi, DeFi, perpetual futures, and margin models, is necessary.
Practical notes
The role is based in a Singapore office in the heart of the CBD.
Annual leave includes generous time off on top of national holidays alongside self-care benefits and fitness workshops or webinars.
Medical coverage extends to GP, Specialist, TCM, and related services.
The team maintains a friendly and fun start-up work culture.
Typical interview steps
Hiring for engineering roles usually starts with a recruiter screen, followed by one or two technical rounds. Candidates often solve a coding problem, discuss past projects, and answer system design questions. Some loops include a take-home task. Final rounds typically cover team fit and give candidates a chance to ask questions. Interviewers look for how you break down an unfamiliar problem, not just whether you reach the answer. Practicing a few problems aloud and reviewing your own past projects are the best preparation.
Good to know
Options trading and market making in crypto markets form the core focus of this role.
Common tools include volatility surfaces, Greeks, and systematic backtesting workflows.
The position emphasizes real-time pricing, strategy refinement, and post-trade optimization.
Questions to ask
Worth asking in any interview: how the team measures success, who the role works with daily, what the onboarding looks like, and what the company is trying to achieve this year. Asking what past hires did well is a strong final question. Keep the list short and pick the questions that matter most to you.
Career growth
Engineering careers usually progress from individual contributor to senior, staff, and principal levels. Some engineers move into management and lead teams of five to twenty people. Others stay on the technical track. Growth follows demonstrated impact, not tenure alone. A typical engineering ladder has clear levels with defined expectations for scope, quality, and mentorship. Moving up usually requires owning outcomes end to end rather than completing assigned tickets.
