Risk & Monitoring Analyst IV
Job description
About the role
Risk & Monitoring Analyst IV: Operational Integrity in Global Finance
Coinbase is actively seeking a Risk & Monitoring Analyst IV to join the Operational Risk and Controls (ORC) team within Global Financial Crimes Operations (GFCO). This is a remote-first role based in the UK, offering the chance to build the future of finance alongside a team committed to increasing economic freedom. The position operates in an intense environment that demands excellence, and includes quarterly in-person "surges" for collaborative work.
The Core Mission
The primary responsibility is owning quality assurance reviews of Treasury Management System (TMS) investigations. This work directly supports Coinbase's Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) program. The analyst will strengthen consistency in case execution, identify procedural gaps, and partner with Operations, Compliance, Analytics, and Learning & Development. The goal is to transform quality insights into tangible operational improvements.
Key Responsibilities
This role is focused on maintaining and elevating standards across financial crime operations. You will set weekly metrics and dashboards to expose risk patterns and guide senior decision-making. Leading calibration sessions and office hours will be essential to deepen the team's understanding of complex procedures.
A critical function is conducting root cause analysis on recurring quality themes and drafting actionable process and training recommendations. You will coordinate with second line of defense partners and help shape timely, well-supported responses to audit and review findings. The role also involves building and presenting weekly metrics, dashboards, and trend analyses that highlight risks and improvement opportunities to senior stakeholders.
You will be responsible for onboarding new joiners, validating practice cases, and delivering structured feedback to accelerate their readiness and overall quality performance. A key daily task is reviewing TMS cases against established QA rubrics, which includes core sampling for regulatory filings like SARs and risk-based sampling across priority compliance areas.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must bring 6+ years of experience in quality assurance, quality control, audit, or financial crime investigations within a regulated financial services environment. A deep working knowledge of BSA/AML laws, regulations, and requirements is mandatory, along with the ability to apply risk-based judgment when examining intricate investigations.
Holding an ACAMS certification or an equivalent AML qualification is required. You must have a proven track record of producing compliance metrics, dashboards, and performance reporting for operational and compliance stakeholders. Proficiency in Google Sheets/Excel and Google Slides/PowerPoint is essential.
A documented history of presenting QA findings, root cause analyses, and procedural recommendations to senior compliance and operations leaders across multiple regions is required.
Preferred Skills
Experience using generative AI tools responsibly while maintaining rigorous human oversight is valued. The ideal candidate will utilize these technologies to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
