About the role

This role focuses on understanding and advocating for the needs of Coinbase's most active and analytical traders. You will be instrumental in shaping the future of our trading products by conducting in-depth research and translating findings into impactful product decisions.

What you'll do

• Lead user research efforts for the Advanced Trade product area, collaborating with design, product, and data teams.
• Conduct comprehensive research using various methods like interviews, usability tests, and surveys, specifically targeting experienced traders.
• Combine qualitative insights with quantitative data to create clear reports and provide actionable recommendations for product development.
• Establish ongoing research processes to ensure the team remains consistently informed about user needs.
• Guide product and design partners in using research findings to inform roadmap priorities and experiment design.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in user research, including acting as the primary research contact for a significant product area with multiple stakeholders.
• Demonstrated success in designing and executing research with specialized and hard-to-reach user groups, such as professional traders.
• Proficiency in quantitative analysis and experimentation, with a proven ability to integrate qualitative findings with metrics to influence product strategy.
• A history of independently managing research priorities amidst competing demands and guiding product and design colleagues in their research activities.
• Experience utilizing generative AI responsibly, ensuring human oversight for business-ready outcomes and efficiency improvements.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with cryptocurrency trading, financial markets, or trading platforms.

Practical notes

• Annual base salary range: $167,280 - $196,800 USD. Total compensation may include equity and bonus.
• Candidates may submit a maximum of 3 applications within a 6-month period.
• Quarterly in-person working sessions ("surges") are expected.
