Director, Enterprise Sales

About the role

Cognition is an applied AI lab focused on creating end-to-end software agents, including the AI software engineer known as Devin. We are seeking a Director of Enterprise Sales to manage our central U.S. regional business and build a high-performing team from the ground up.

What you'll do

• Recruit, hire, and onboard a high-performing team of Enterprise Account Directors and Account Managers.
• Manage the full customer lifecycle, including net new business, account expansions, and renewals.
• Establish sales playbooks, deal strategies, and operational processes to ensure consistent growth.
• Coach team members on navigating complex enterprise organizations, including legal, procurement, and C-suite stakeholders.
• Maintain a focus on customer health and long-term partnership retention.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and GTM leadership to relay customer feedback and influence product strategy.

Requirements

• 8+ years of sales experience with a history of exceeding quotas.
• 3+ years of experience in a leadership or management role within an enterprise sales team.
• Proven success selling technical products to large, complex organizations.
• Experience in building, scaling, and developing sales talent.
• Ability to influence and engage at the executive level.
• Technical aptitude to understand customer pain points and explain how Cognition solves engineering challenges.
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.

Nice to have

• Background in selling AI, infrastructure software, or developer tools.
• Experience as a startup founder or working in an early-stage company.
• Previous professional experience as a software engineer or sales engineer, or a computer science educational background.
• Experience building an enterprise sales organization from the beginning.
• High level of proficiency and curiosity regarding AI tools.
