About the role

Coefficient Giving is building a founding team for its new U.S. AI Policy division to establish institutional capacity and support cross-partisan governance for artificial intelligence. We are seeking proactive grantmakers and a Chief of Staff to manage high-impact funding portfolios and drive strategic initiatives within the Washington D.C. policy landscape.

What you'll do

• Identify and develop high-impact projects and organizations, including proactive sourcing of founders and initiatives.
• Conduct thorough research and due diligence to evaluate potential grant opportunities and program strategies.
• Manage special projects such as incubating new initiatives, headhunting talent, and collaborating with for-profit entities.
• Build and maintain professional relationships across the AI policy ecosystem to facilitate information flow and stakeholder alignment.
• As Chief of Staff: Support the Managing Director of Public Policy by managing cross-team initiatives, refining internal processes, and leading hiring efforts.
• As a Grantmaker: Operate at the level of Senior Program Associate, Associate Program Officer, or Program Officer to own strategy and execution within specific policy domains.

Requirements

• Demonstrated familiarity with the Washington D.C. AI policy ecosystem.
• Ability to take full ownership of loosely scoped projects and drive them to completion.
• High level of agency and execution speed to manage large-scale funding allocations.
• Strong judgment regarding organizational due diligence and strategic prioritization.
• Capacity to build networks and communicate effectively across diverse professional contexts.

Nice to have

• Technical fluency regarding frontier AI capabilities and associated risks.
• Experience in policy entrepreneurship and identifying organizational gaps.
• Expertise in coalition-building and understanding the political economy of governance.

Practical notes

• We provide relocation assistance for candidates moving to Washington D.C.
• U.S. work authorization sponsorship is available, though approval is subject to government discretion.
• Compensation includes salary plus an unconditional 401(k) contribution of $24,500.
• Benefits include 100% employer-paid health insurance premiums for employees and dependents, dental, vision, life insurance, four weeks of recommended PTO, and four months of paid family leave.
