Systems Engineer - Global Resource Management at Cloudflare.
About the role
The Global Resource Management team builds the core infrastructure that enables unified metadata, tagging, and resource governance across the entire Cloudflare platform. You will design and operate the foundational services that support internal teams like Workers, Zero Trust, and Billing as they manage resources at massive scale.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Build and maintain microservices and REST APIs for the tag-api platform.
- Manage the full lifecycle of API development, including data modeling, schema migrations, and validation logic.
- Design bulk operations APIs capable of handling thousands of resources while balancing latency and consistency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate their resources into the centralized management layer.
- Implement concurrency controls and quota enforcement to ensure platform stability.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional experience in software engineering for large-scale production systems.
- Proficiency in Go.
- Experience designing and building REST APIs, including routing, authentication, and request lifecycle management.
- Expertise in PostgreSQL, specifically regarding schema design, query optimization, migrations, and replication.
- Ability to navigate technical ambiguity and communicate tradeoffs across different engineering teams.
- Practical understanding of distributed systems, including consistency models, event-driven replication, and state propagation.
Nice to have
- Experience developing internal developer platforms or infrastructure-level systems.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes for operations and deployment.
- Experience with message-based replication, outbox patterns, or event-driven architectures using tools like Kafka or Watermill.
- Exposure to edge computing or serverless runtimes like Cloudflare Workers.
