Forward Deployed Engineer, Professional Services

About the role

This role functions as a high-level technical expert embedded within customer organizations to manage and optimize their Cloudflare deployments. You will serve as a primary advisor and hands-on engineer, bridging the gap between complex client infrastructure needs and Cloudflare service offerings.

What you'll do

• Integrate into the technical team of the customer to operate within their specific change-management and process frameworks.
• Configure, design, and perform hands-on optimization of Cloudflare solutions in live environments.
• Develop automation scripts, build prototypes, and execute real-time troubleshooting.
• Create technical documentation including HLDs, LLDs, solution designs, migration plans, and test procedures.
• Lead technical workshops and prepare for high-stakes events like product launches or security drills.
• Act as an internal advocate for the customer to influence Cloudflare product roadmaps and feature development.
• Collaborate with Account Executives, Solutions Engineers, and Delivery Leaders on account strategy.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in technical, customer-facing roles.
• Expert knowledge of the OSI model, TCP/IP, TLS, DNS, and HTTP.
• Proven track record in one of the following: Applications (WAF, Bot Management, API Gateway, DDoS), Network (Magic Transit, BYOIP, L3/L4 routing, SD-WAN), or Zero Trust/SASE (Access, Gateway, CASB, RBI, DLP).
• Experience working with enterprise customers in the APJC region, with preference for Korea market knowledge.
• Ability to manage complex project scopes, timelines, and competing priorities.
• Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Must be authorized to receive software or technology controlled under U.S. export laws without sponsorship for an export license.

Nice to have

• Experience in regulated sectors such as Public Sector, Financial Services, or Healthcare.
• Industry certifications including CCIE, CISSP, AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Familiarity with Agile frameworks and enterprise change-management processes.
• Prior hands-on experience with the Cloudflare ecosystem.
