About the role
Christian & Timbers is looking for an Applied AI Engineer to create production-ready AI applications utilizing large language models. This position emphasizes the transformation of recent advancements in generative AI into scalable solutions that address the practical needs of enterprise legal teams.
You will collaborate with product managers, engineers, and AI researchers to develop intelligent systems that merge foundational models, retrieval systems, agent workflows, and enterprise infrastructure into secure, high-performance applications.

What you'll do
- Develop enterprise-level generative AI applications.
- Create Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems for extensive legal knowledge bases.
- Build AI agents for tasks such as legal research, document drafting, contract analysis, and workflow automation.
- Integrate large language models with enterprise data sources, APIs, and document management systems.
- Optimize prompts, evaluation processes, and model performance for accuracy, latency, and cost efficiency.
- Assess and implement advanced AI models from providers like OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and open-source platforms.
- Construct scalable backend services to support AI-driven applications.
- Work closely with Product, Design, and AI teams to quickly prototype and deploy new features.
- Ensure compliance with enterprise-level security, privacy, and governance standards across AI systems.
- Continuously investigate new technologies in generative AI and agent-based architectures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a similar discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience in software engineering.
- Proven experience in developing production applications that utilize large language models.
- Strong programming skills in Python.
- Familiarity with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, and AI application development.
- Practical experience with RAG architectures and vector databases.
- Knowledge of orchestration frameworks like LangGraph, LangChain, or LlamaIndex.
- Experience with FastAPI, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Solid understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, and API development.

- Experience in creating AI products for sectors like legal, finance, or healthcare, which are subject to strict regulations.
- Understanding of agent-based AI frameworks and multi-agent systems.
- Background in enterprise security, compliance, and data governance.
