About the role
Checkr is seeking a leader for the Truework Mortgage Verifications team to oversee the development of new products and customer experiences. You will guide the technical direction of the platform while collaborating with product stakeholders to scale architecture and improve service reliability. This role involves managing a high-impact team that influences how millions of consumers and businesses interact with verification data.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Define and execute the technical strategy for the team.
- Collaborate with product management to ship new features and iterate on existing tools.
- Manage technical debt and ensure the architecture scales effectively.
- Engage directly with customers to drive project outcomes.
- Mentor engineers and support their professional development.
- Recruit and hire top-tier talent to expand the team.
- Represent the engineering function in product planning and strategy sessions.
- Refine internal processes to improve development speed and code quality.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in engineering management.
- 8+ years of experience as an individual contributor engineer.
- Proven ability to manage quality incidents as both a technical and communication lead.
- Experience building and maintaining products at scale within highly regulated industries.
- Proficiency in TDD, pair programming, and agile workflows.
- Expertise in system design, service architecture, and lean development principles.
- Ability to prioritize complex tasks and make rapid, informed decisions.
- Experience building inclusive teams that prioritize diversity and growth.
- Strong bias for action, resilience, and ownership.
