Staff Applied AI Engineer at Checkr.
About the role
Checkr is seeking a technical leader to drive AI adoption and solution engineering across all internal departments. You will bridge the gap between business needs and technical execution by building custom AI tools, establishing scalable workflows, and fostering AI fluency throughout the organization.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Partner with internal teams to identify high-impact use cases and translate business requirements into technical AI solutions.
- Design, develop, and deploy custom AI applications using LLMs, RAG architectures, and agentic workflows.
- Create and maintain reusable assets such as prompt libraries, playbooks, and reference architectures.
- Standardize and templatize AI workflows to ensure consistency and scalability across the company.
- Facilitate company-wide hackathons and recurring office hours to support internal AI experimentation.
- Lead training sessions and workshops to increase AI literacy among staff.
- Evaluate and recommend AI tools and platforms, providing build-versus-buy analysis.
- Collaborate with Security, Data Engineering, and Business Systems to ensure compliant and secure AI integration.
- Contribute to the organizational AI roadmap and present progress to stakeholders and leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience in engineering, technical enablement, or solutions engineering.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience building AI products, including generative AI, machine learning, and prompt engineering.
- Deep proficiency in Python and experience integrating LLMs into production applications.
- Proven ability to lead enablement programs, including documentation, training, and community-building events.
- Strong ability to synthesize complex, ambiguous problems into actionable technical plans.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
