About the role
This position involves technical leadership within the Schwab Retirement Technologies division. You will focus on platform engineering, modernization, and improving the reliability of retirement solutions used by third-party administrators.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Lead technical strategy across multiple Agile teams to improve software delivery and platform capabilities.
- Collaborate with Service Availability and Automation Engineers to refine deployment models and application performance.
- Implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines and dual-production deployment strategies like Blue/Green or A/B.
- Drive modernization initiatives for enterprise-grade applications and event-driven architectures.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to enhance observability and operational standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in enterprise software engineering.
- 7+ years of professional experience with .NET and .NET Core.
- 7+ years of C# programming experience.
- Proficiency in Object-Oriented Design principles and patterns.
- Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs.
- Background in SQL Server development, including stored procedures and relational database management.
- Experience with GitHub or similar version control systems.
- Proven history of supporting production releases and deployment management.
- Experience designing performance and load-testing environments.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and build partnerships across departments.
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
Nice to have
- Proficiency with Angular for single-page applications and UI components.
- Experience using AI-assisted tools like Microsoft Copilot.
- Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD).
- Background in financial services or retirement industry software.
- Experience using Splunk for observability and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with feature management platforms and distributed application design.
