Full Stack Software Engineer

About the role

Chalk develops a data platform designed to remove technical hurdles for machine learning applications. We are looking for engineers to join our San Francisco team to help scale our infrastructure and refine our developer tools.

What you'll do

• Partner with the co-founders to move our initial product iterations into production.
• Develop across the full stack using TypeScript, Python, Go, and React.
• Create interfaces that allow data scientists and machine learning practitioners to interact with our platform.
• Adapt our platform features quickly based on direct feedback from our customers.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Bachelor degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Proficiency in building and maintaining production-grade systems rather than just solving algorithmic puzzles.
• Experience creating polished, user-facing applications with a focus on high-quality UX.
• Ability to manage projects independently and make practical technical decisions that support business goals.
• Strong ability to communicate technical concepts.
• Proven capacity to master new technologies and domains rapidly.

Nice to have

• Background in building data infrastructure.
• Experience developing developer-facing tools.
• Familiarity with Go.
• Practical experience in machine learning or data analytics.
