What you'll do
- Support technical operations and maintenance of laboratory equipment used in particle physics research activities
- Assist senior engineers and scientists with the setup, calibration, and testing of experimental apparatus and detectors
- Contribute to the documentation and reporting of technical procedures, measurements, and project outcomes
- Participate in the assembly and integration of components for large-scale detection systems and instruments
- Help maintain and troubleshoot electronic, mechanical, or software systems used in ongoing research workflows
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve technical issues during active experiments
- Support the development and implementation of technical solutions for data acquisition and monitoring systems
- Contribute to safety compliance and adherence to laboratory protocols during all technical activities and shifts

Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a relevant technical or scientific degree program at an accredited institution of higher learning
- Demonstrated interest in experimental physics, engineering, or a closely related scientific discipline through coursework or projects
- Ability to commit to a full-time engagement for the duration of the studentship period as defined by CERN
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills applied to practical technical challenges in a laboratory environment
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaborating within diverse, international research teams
- Willingness to follow laboratory safety procedures and operational guidelines at all times during technical work
