About the role
Caribou is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team of ten engineers responsible for our core LOS/CRM platform. This role is instrumental in developing agentic orchestration to automate high-volume refinance steps, allowing our human team to focus on complex cases. You will also guide the team's adoption of AI engineering practices.

What you'll do
- Manage a team of ten engineers, overseeing hiring, performance, and career development.
- Provide technical guidance and architectural input, ensuring the health and maintainability of the codebase.
- Champion the team's adoption of agentic engineering and AI integration, fostering skill growth.
- Ensure production readiness and operational excellence for the team's services, including on-call responsibilities and incident management.
- Oversee the secure software development lifecycle, including vulnerability management and audit readiness.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, Security, and Data teams to translate roadmaps into technical execution.
- Contribute to the broader engineering strategy and practices at Caribou.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing engineers who build and operate production back-end systems.
- Demonstrated success in guiding teams to adopt agentic engineering or integrate AI for business impact.
- A people-first leadership approach, prioritizing context and collaboration.
- Experience managing distributed teams across different time zones, including nearshore or offshore members.
- A comprehensive understanding of production software systems, from infrastructure to application layers.
- A commitment to continuous learning and leadership development.
Nice to have
- Experience with Ruby on Rails monoliths.
- Familiarity with Python monorepos.
- Knowledge of Google ADK Agents.

Practical notes
- Compensation: $174,000 - $217,000 annually.
- Benefits include equity options, 401k, generous paid time off, 100% paid parental leave, and company-paid health, dental, vision, mental health, disability, and life insurance.
- Professional development budget of up to $1,000 per year.
- Interview process includes a recruiter screen, technical assessment, hiring manager interview, and a final interview loop.
