Staff Research Scientist at Carbon, Inc.
About the role
Carbon, Inc. is looking for a research scientist to join the print development group. You will bridge the gap between hardware and materials teams to refine 3D printing processes through hands-on experimentation and technical reporting.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Analyze and optimize additive manufacturing processes by working across print and materials development.
- Develop and manage research projects centered on new process creation and testing methodologies.
- Create and run experiments to measure how print and bake settings affect part accuracy and material characteristics.
- Coordinate with production partners to facilitate process scaling, which involves some travel.
- Document research findings in technical reports and present conclusions to internal engineering and chemistry teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree or higher in chemical engineering, polymer chemistry, material science, or chemistry.
- Prior laboratory experience involving materials or chemistry.
- Ability to independently design and carry out experimental plans.
- Problem-solving mindset.
Nice to have
- Experience with dimensional accuracy or material property characterization.
- Familiarity with standard chemical processing and handling protocols.
