Staff Electrical Engineer at Carbon, Inc.
About the role
Carbon is seeking a mid-level electrical engineer to advance our 3D printing technology through sophisticated PCBA and system design. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to manage hardware projects from initial requirements through to full-scale production.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Architect and implement electronic systems including analog, digital, and high-power circuits.
- Manage the design, documentation, and wiring of system-level harness solutions.
- Coordinate with mechanical, firmware, and software teams to validate prototypes and troubleshoot hardware.
- Develop and maintain testing infrastructure for use by both hardware and software departments.
- Conduct technical reviews of schematics, layouts, test plans, and design documentation.
- Oversee manufacturing strategies and end-of-line testing to ensure a smooth transition to production.
Requirements
- BS in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
- 7+ years of professional electrical engineering experience.
- Full-cycle PCBA design expertise covering specification, simulation, layout, prototyping, and validation.
- Proficiency with analog, digital, and power circuit design.
- Experience with microcontrollers and communication protocols such as USB, I2C, and SPI.
- Ability to perform system-level debugging using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.
Nice to have
- Experience with Altium Designer.
- Hands-on background in building prototype PCBAs and wiring harnesses.
- Familiarity with in-circuit testing and electromagnetic compliance (EMC) standards.
- Experience with mechatronic systems.
- Proven history of bringing electromechanical products from concept to manufacturing.
- Ability to collaborate with firmware teams on low-level driver implementation.
