Systems Engineering Manager

About the role

This position combines team leadership with technical oversight to evolve identity infrastructure. You will guide a group of engineers and an operations manager to ensure secure and scalable access management across the company.

What you'll do

• Manage, mentor, and grow a team of IAM Systems Engineers and an Operations Manager.
• Oversee the delivery and ongoing improvement of identity and access management services.
• Collaborate with the Operations Manager to refine service management and team workflows.
• Direct strategic initiatives involving IT, Security, and Infrastructure departments.
• Evaluate technical designs and change requests while assisting with complex IAM escalations.
• Analyze operational metrics to drive service improvements and set priorities.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading and scaling technical teams in distributed or local settings.
• Demonstrated ability to coach and develop engineering talent.
• Proficiency in identity standards and protocols including SCIM, SAML, and OpenID Connect.
• Skill in providing actionable, constructive feedback to team members.
• Ability to utilize data to identify trends and manage service outcomes.
• Experience configuring enterprise identity features such as MFA, lifecycle management, and SSO.
• Capability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience in recruiting and building high-performing technical teams.

Nice to have

• Experience managing Okta within a large-scale enterprise.
• Background in implementing or running identity governance and administration platforms.
• Knowledge of GitOps, Terraform, or the Okta Terraform Provider.
• Experience with business process automation using tools like Workato.
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and the ability to perform high-level code reviews.
