Dutch Language Manager

About the role

You will serve as the primary linguistic authority for the Dutch market, ensuring the Canva platform resonates authentically with local users. This role involves managing the end-to-end quality of Dutch content while collaborating with internal teams to refine our brand presence.

What you'll do

• Define and maintain the Dutch brand voice across the entire product interface
• Translate and localize high-impact content for our Dutch-speaking audience
• Oversee partnerships with external language vendors and service providers
• Create and update style guides, terminology glossaries, and quality standards
• Perform rigorous quality checks on marketing and product-related translations
• Propose enhancements to the user experience based on linguistic performance
• Provide cultural and linguistic guidance to internal stakeholders
• Assist with bug triaging and quality assurance testing

Requirements

• Proven background in language management, content strategy, or localization
• Expert command of Dutch language nuances and cultural context
• Experience assessing translation quality across diverse digital surfaces
• Proficiency with CAT tools and standard localization processes
• Ability to manage stakeholders and communicate effectively across departments
• Experience using data and user feedback to drive quality improvements
• Professional history within SaaS, technology, or product-focused environments

Nice to have

• Previous tenure as a Language Lead at a software firm or language service provider
• Hands-on experience with Smartling or equivalent CAT software
• Background in transcreation or professional copywriting
• Knowledge of SEO principles and organic growth strategies
• Visual design skills or a strong eye for design
• Experience integrating AI into localization workflows
• University degree in linguistics, literature, or a related field

Practical notes

This is a hybrid role based at our Herengracht hub in Amsterdam. The contract allows for flexible weekly hours to accommodate other freelance commitments.
