About the role

Canva is seeking a visual designer to create high-impact video templates and motion graphics for our global user base. You will translate current social media trends into accessible, customizable assets that help millions of people produce professional content.

What you'll do

• Develop short-form video templates, narrative structures, and trend-responsive content for our users.
• Convert platform-specific trends into functional, editable creative assets.
• Design sequences, transitions, hooks, and story arcs that align with current social media behaviors.
• Partner with Product, Editing, Video, and Content Studio teams to ensure creative consistency.
• Maintain a high volume of output while balancing design quality and scalability.
• Take part in content forecasting, trend analysis, and creative feedback sessions.
• Experiment with new approaches in video editing, motion design, and AI-assisted content creation.

Requirements

• Demonstrated skill in video editing, motion design, and mobile-first storytelling.
• Deep familiarity with social media culture and content performance on platforms like TikTok, Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
• Ability to simplify complex trends into templates that non-experts can easily customize.
• Experience working in fast-paced, collaborative, and iterative environments.
• A portfolio demonstrating your design work (include password in cover letter if protected).
