About the role
Join Camunda as a Technical Writer, embedded directly within product teams. You will take full ownership of documentation for key platform areas, collaborating with engineers, product managers, and designers. This hands-on position requires you to become a subject matter expert, shaping the developer journey through high-impact content.

What you'll do
- Drive documentation for specific product areas as an embedded writer within product teams.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and designers to align documentation with the product roadmap.
- Become a subject matter expert in your assigned areas, gaining hands-on experience with Camunda products.
- Lead documentation from planning to release, creating content that helps developers succeed.
- Champion documentation as a crucial part of the user experience, influencing product design and implementation.
- Improve documentation clarity and completeness using analytics, user feedback, and personal insights.
- Work with other writers to share best practices and evolve documentation tools and standards.
- Contribute to maintaining and improving the documentation site's technical infrastructure, including build tools and deployment pipelines.
Requirements
- 3+ years of technical writing experience with a strong portfolio of developer-focused content (user guides, API references, tutorials).
- Practical experience with Java, Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, and the ability to understand and test complex technical products (ideally Camunda 8 or similar).
- Experience documenting both on-premise software installations and SaaS products.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt content for diverse technical audiences, including software engineers, business analysts, and process owners.
- Experience with docs-as-code workflows, documentation frameworks like Docusaurus, and using AI, Git, and Markdown in a developer environment.
- Willingness to use Camunda products.
Nice to have
- Experience maintaining and configuring documentation site infrastructure and deployment pipelines, preferably with Docusaurus.
- Software engineering experience or proficiency in one or more programming languages.
- Comfort with iterating on an existing technical writing style guide and promoting its use across teams.
