Key facts

What you'll do

• Develop and implement automated tests, including chaos experiments, to verify the platform's behavior under various conditions.
• Investigate, diagnose, and resolve issues related to performance or stability in our Java-based products.
• Enhance existing infrastructure for load testing, chaos engineering, and system monitoring to maintain high performance and reliability.
• Introduce new tools and methodologies for reliability testing, aiming for measurable improvements in user experience and operational stability.
• Work collaboratively with QA and engineering teams, sharing insights and influencing product development based on your findings.
• Champion a practical and independent approach to software design, tackling complex challenges and acquiring knowledge in new technologies.
• Advocate for user-focused reliability by actively using and understanding Camunda's products from a user's perspective.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in backend software development, with a strong focus on Java.
• Demonstrated initiative in experimenting with new technologies and conducting automated reliability and chaos testing in distributed systems.
• A deep interest in enhancing the performance and fault tolerance of production systems.
• Ability to work autonomously, solve problems pragmatically, and influence colleagues.
• Willingness and capacity to use Camunda products and approach reliability from an end-user viewpoint.

Nice to have

• Practical experience with Go or other programming languages in a multi-language development setting.
• Background in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) for distributed systems, with a solid software engineering foundation.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Helm Charts, Operators, and related production infrastructure.
• Experience deploying and managing applications in production, including proficiency in monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance analysis.
• Prior involvement in chaos engineering, automated reliability, load, or performance testing initiatives.

• Compensation includes a base salary and a variable target component, with ranges adjusted by location. Final offers are based on skills, experience, and location.
