About the role
Lead the development and evolution of Calendly's native iOS and Android applications, which are central to how millions of professionals interact with our product. This position involves guiding a talented team, shaping technical strategy, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality mobile experiences. You will be the primary engineering advocate for mobile across the organization.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Guide and develop a team of iOS and Android engineers, overseeing performance, career progression, and hiring.
- Define the technical direction for Calendly's mobile applications, including architectural choices and quality standards.
- Collaborate closely with product and design teams to drive the mobile product roadmap and ensure efficient delivery.
- Work with backend, platform, security, and data teams to create integrated mobile solutions.
- Implement and refine mobile engineering best practices, such as testing, code reviews, and incident response.
- Represent mobile engineering in leadership discussions, translating business needs into technical plans.
- Foster a supportive team environment that encourages growth and high performance.
- Promote the use of AI tools to enhance team productivity, code reviews, and development tasks.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years in software engineering, with substantial experience in native iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin), or both.
- At least 3 years of experience managing mobile engineering teams within a product-centric setting.
- Proven ability to drive the adoption of AI-powered tools to boost engineering team efficiency and collaboration.
- Experience managing the complete lifecycle of a consumer or B2B mobile product, from initial architecture to release.
- Experience working with products that have widespread adoption and require high availability.
- Strong technical understanding to guide architectural decisions and support engineers.
- A history of building and retaining effective engineering teams through hiring and development.
Nice to have
- Experience with both iOS and Android platforms.
- Background in SaaS or productivity tools where mobile is a primary user interface.
- Familiarity with mobile release processes, including app store submissions, phased rollouts, and crash monitoring.
- Experience managing a team through significant platform migrations or architectural changes.
- Exposure to cross-platform technologies like React Native.

- Salary Range Tier 1: $232,626 - $281,888 USD
- Salary Range Tier 2: $213,241 - $258,398 USD
- Salary Range Tier 3: $193,855 - $234,907 USD
- Salary is determined by factors including experience, skills, interview performance, location, and internal equity.
- Total compensation includes base salary, equity awards, and benefits.
- Geographic zones for pay determination:
- Tier 1: San Francisco, CA, San Jose, CA, New York City, NY
- Tier 2: Chicago, IL, Austin, TX, Denver, CO, Boston, MA, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, PA, Portland, OR, Seattle, WA, Miami, FL, and all other cities in CA.
- Tier 3: All other locations not in Tier 1 or Tier 2.
- Employment is not available in Alaska, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Dakota, and West Virginia.
- Occasional travel may be required for company events, team collaboration, or offsites.
