Senior Security Operations Engineer

About the role

Brex provides an intelligent financial platform for global companies to manage spending and banking. You will join the Trust and IT organization to protect our cloud and corporate environments by identifying, investigating, and mitigating security threats.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Monitor and respond to security incidents while conducting threat hunting and remediation activities.
• Design, build, and maintain security tools and systems across infrastructure, detection, and corporate security domains.
• Partner with internal engineering teams to prioritize and resolve security vulnerabilities within established service level agreements.
• Contribute to the open source Substation project and share technical insights on the Brex Tech Blog.
• Participate in the full lifecycle of security engineering, from system design to deployment.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent fellowship/training, or 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Background in security incident response, alert triage, or infrastructure security.
• Experience managing security services such as SIEM, SOAR, endpoint protection, email security, or cloud security tools.
• Proficiency in Go or Python for developing and maintaining internal security tooling.
• Working knowledge of DevOps workflows and CI/CD systems including Terraform, Git, Flux, and Buildkite within cloud environments like AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Nice to have

• Advanced proficiency in Go or other programming languages.
• Experience securing Kubernetes and distributed systems within AWS.
• Demonstrated history of community involvement through open source contributions, research, public speaking, or technical blogging.

Practical notes

Salary range is $192,000 - $240,000, with final pay determined by experience, location, and internal parity. This role includes equity and additional compensation. We operate on a hybrid schedule requiring in-office attendance on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Employees are eligible for four weeks of fully remote work per year.
