Senior Manager, Supplier Enablement & Spend Conversion
Job description
Senior Manager, Supplier Enablement & Spend Conversion at Brex.
About the role
Brex seeks a leader to build and manage a new function focused on converting enterprise vendor payments to card transactions. This role involves developing the strategy, processes, and team to shift billions of dollars in non-card spend onto the Brex platform. You will operate at the intersection of product, implementation, business development, and sales, with significant growth potential.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Create the Spend Conversion function from the ground up, defining its strategy, entry criteria, engagement model, and key performance indicators for moving non-card vendor spend to Brex.
- Develop a comprehensive approach that includes Capital One operations and third-party vendors.
- Manage the entire vendor spend migration process, from analyzing vendor files and identifying card acceptance to negotiating terms and activating cards.
- Collaborate with product, implementation, business development, and sales to launch these workflows and expand our acceptance database through data partnerships.
- Directly advise enterprise customers, helping them unlock spend with key vendors and translating their objectives into concrete migration and negotiation plans.
- Design an AI-native approach to supplier enablement, moving beyond traditional manual methods.
- Implement operational rigor through tracking, reporting, and incentive structures to ensure the function is measurable and scalable.
- Recruit and mentor a team of specialists as the function grows, initially serving as a player-coach.
- Advocate for spend conversion internally, educating stakeholders and influencing how Brex captures a larger share of customer spending.
Requirements
- 5 or more years of experience in B2B or commercial card, payments, supplier enablement, or vendor/payment operations.
- Proven experience establishing a new function or program from scratch, or scaling an early, unstructured initiative, including setting up processes, KPIs, and operating rhythms.
- Practical understanding of card acceptance and merchant economics, including how vendors process cards, card-on-file versus card-per-invoice, fees, and buyer/supplier trade-offs.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate and influence, both with vendors on acceptance terms and internally with executives and various departments.
- Direct customer-facing experience with enterprise clients, comfortable managing senior relationships and translating customer goals into actionable plans.
- A foundational, builder mindset: you can create a vision and drive it forward through uncertainty without relying on existing playbooks.
- A history of cross-functional collaboration, having delivered results alongside product, sales/business development, and implementation teams.
- Leadership experience, having managed people or significant projects, and ready to build and lead a team.
Nice to have
- Experience at a bank or issuer with a commercial or business card program, specifically in supplier enablement or merchant services, where you have seen this process operate at scale.
- Strong AI proficiency, having used or developed AI or agentic workflows to automate operational tasks, with an eagerness to apply this knowledge here.
- Startup or founder experience, ideally at an early-stage or AI-native company, demonstrating speed and resourcefulness.
- Exposure to a high-growth technology or fintech environment, navigating complex cross-functional challenges.
