Director, Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting at Brex.
About the role
Brex is seeking a leader to manage our financial reporting and technical accounting operations within our fintech ecosystem. You will ensure our financial statements maintain strict US GAAP compliance while supporting the company as it integrates with Capital One standards.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Manage global financial reporting, including consolidated and entity-level US GAAP financial statements.
- Direct strategy for regulated entity reporting to ensure full regulatory compliance.
- Provide technical accounting guidance on non-routine transactions and disclosures.
- Create and maintain corporate accounting policies and manage the adoption of new FASB and SEC standards.
- Design internal controls to meet SOX requirements and Capital One reporting standards.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Legal teams to evaluate the accounting impact of new product launches.
- Coordinate the monthly close process, including reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis.
- Drive process automation and AI-based initiatives to improve accounting workflows.
Requirements
- BA or BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
- Active CPA license.
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience, with a background at a Big 4 firm or in a leadership capacity at a high-growth company.
- Expertise in US GAAP and financial reporting.
- Experience in payment processing, credit card, or financial services accounting.
- Ability to communicate complex accounting concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
- Experience with financial reporting software such as Workiva or DFIN.
Nice to have
- Experience working within a public company.
- Proficiency in data analytics and a product-focused approach to accounting systems.
- Practical experience using AI to automate research or financial reporting tasks.

- Salary range: $252,216 - $315,270.
- Total compensation includes equity and additional benefits.
- Hybrid work policy requires in-office attendance on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
- Employees are eligible for four weeks of fully remote work per year.
