About the role

Brex is seeking a leader to manage the underwriting and portfolio performance of our commercial customer base. You will report to the Chief Credit Officer and drive the modernization of our credit operations through AI-native automation.

What you'll do

• Direct the team responsible for ongoing underwriting and portfolio management across existing accounts.
• Create portfolio strategies that balance growth, risk exposure, and customer experience.
• Collaborate with Sales, Product, Analytics, Legal, and Credit Policy to refine decision-making processes.
• Manage and mentor a multi-layered organization of credit professionals and managers.
• Engage with CFOs and finance leaders to resolve complex credit scenarios.
• Implement AI and automation to scale workflows and reduce manual operational tasks.
• Represent the organization in discussions with auditors, regulators, and external partners.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional experience in commercial underwriting, credit risk, portfolio management, or commercial banking.
• Proficiency in analyzing balance sheets, cash flow, and business financial statements.
• Background in managing commercial credit lines and corporate liability underwriting.
• Proven track record of leading teams within fintech or financial services.
• Executive presence with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and client leadership.
• Experience building cross-functional partnerships to drive operational improvements.

Nice to have

• Experience with commercial cards, B2B payments, banking, or commercial lending products.
• Background serving enterprise or middle-market customers at a high-growth fintech or major financial institution.
