Quality Assurance Engineer

About the role

Braven is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to support our mission of helping college students secure strong career starts. You will join the Systems team to ensure our software platforms remain reliable, accessible, and user-friendly as we scale to serve up to 100,000 Fellows.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Develop and maintain UI and API automation using Playwright.
• Collaborate with engineers to expand unit and integration test coverage.
• Design and execute test plans for web features and integrations including Salesforce, Canvas, Pathify, LinkedIn, and Zoom.
• Conduct accessibility testing per WCAG standards and perform cross-browser and device validation.
• Manage quality gates within GitHub Actions and CI/CD pipelines.
• Perform bug triage, regression testing, and root-cause analysis.
• Validate data integrity using SQL and system logs.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of experience in software testing or 2 years in software engineering, with at least 1 year dedicated to test automation.
• Proficiency with Playwright or Cypress, API testing, database management, Git, GitHub, and CI/CD workflows.
• Ability to work in-person in Chicago at least 3 days per week.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without company visa sponsorship.
• Ability to travel 2 to 3 times per year.

Nice to have

• Bachelor degree in a technical field.
• Experience with performance testing, observability tools, and test data management.
• Familiarity with Jira, Postman, Python, Ruby on Rails, and Heroku environments.

Practical notes

• Salary range: $92,000 to $101,100.
• Braven does not negotiate salary offers.
