AI Platform Engineer, Backend

About the role

Brain Co. creates AI-native operating systems for large, regulated sectors using our proprietary Atlas platform. You will manage the entire lifecycle of the backend systems that support our agent-based workflows for government and enterprise clients.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Architect, build, deploy, and maintain backend infrastructure from start to finish.
• Develop modular APIs using REST, gRPC, and event-driven patterns that meet strict uptime standards.
• Deconstruct complex technical challenges into production-ready designs.
• Enhance system performance by optimizing for latency, throughput, and cost.
• Collaborate with Product, ML, and Infrastructure teams to create reliable, developer-friendly tools.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience developing production-grade distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Go, TypeScript, Rust, or Python.
• Strong grasp of distributed systems concepts such as consistency, availability, failure handling, and idempotency.
• Experience managing services with uptime requirements, including observability and incident response.
• Ability to design and evolve scalable APIs and shared infrastructure.

Nice to have

• Background in AI/ML platforms, inference engines, or data pipelines.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and cloud-native deployments.
• Experience working within multi-tenant, government, or highly regulated environments.
• Knowledge of streaming or real-time data architectures.
