Senior Software Engineer

About the role

Join the team managing the Bloomberg Query Language, the primary interface for financial data and analytics across the company. You will contribute to a platform that powers the BQuant product, Excel plugins, and internal terminal functions for a global client base.

What you'll do

• Design and implement solutions for complex, interconnected financial systems.
• Scale the BQL infrastructure to support increased user demand and larger datasets.
• Build tools and workflows that allow internal teams to integrate new datasets into the BQL ecosystem.
• Manage the full lifecycle of your software from initial design through production release.
• Work with a group of over 100 engineers to improve system performance and consistency.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional experience building and scaling services using modern programming languages such as C++, Java, Scala, Go, Python, or JavaScript.
• Deep knowledge of language and framework internals regarding performance and scalability.
• Practical experience with large-scale data processing tasks including sharding, compression, parallelism, indexing, and aggregation.
• Demonstrated proficiency in test-driven development.
• BA, BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
