Electrical Engineer, Hardware Design

About the role

Blissway is a startup focused on modernizing toll collection and highway safety through deep tech, AI, and IoT. We are seeking an experienced engineer to lead the end-to-end design of our hardware systems as we transition from prototyping to large-scale production.

What you'll do

• Manage the full lifecycle of PCB designs from initial concept to field deployment.
• Coordinate with software and manufacturing departments to ensure design integrity across boundaries.
• Conduct design reviews and provide technical feedback to maintain high quality standards.
• Transition hardware from rapid prototypes to structured, repeatable products.
• Debug hardware in real-world conditions using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and power analyzers.
• Create comprehensive documentation including test plans and manufacturing procedures.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering.
• 2+ years of experience building physical hardware, either professionally or through personal projects.
• Proficiency in PCB design, including schematic capture and layout.
• Experience with hardware communication protocols: SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, and CAN.
• Ability to design for reliability, covering thermal management, signal integrity, and power integrity.
• Willingness to work from the Denver office 4-5 days per week.
• Ability to handle a high-intensity startup environment, typically averaging 55 hours per week with occasional bursts of 70+ hours.

Nice to have

• Experience with product lifecycle management and moving designs to production.
• Background in environmental or climatic chamber testing.
• Expertise in power systems design, such as solar, battery management, or DC-DC conversion.
• Experience with IoT or edge devices deployed in outdoor, unattended environments.
• Proficiency in CAD tools for enclosure and mechanical integration.
• Skills in embedded C/C++ or Python for test automation.
