Job description
General Manager, Sandboxes at blacksmith.
About the role
This position involves establishing and growing blacksmith's Sandboxes division. You will oversee all aspects of this new business, from initial strategy to market entry and team development. This is a foundational role, working closely with the company founders and engineering team to position blacksmith as a primary execution platform for AI agents and software tasks.

- Engage directly with early customers developing agents and code-execution products to inform the product roadmap.
- Position blacksmith as the preferred sandbox provider for AI startups, developer firms, and large enterprises.
- Create scalable processes for customer acquisition, onboarding, retention, and expansion.
- Manage pricing structures, product packaging, strategic partnerships, adoption rates, revenue generation, and unit economics.
- Establish blacksmith as a leader in both the technical and commercial aspects of sandbox infrastructure.
- Recruit and lead a dedicated cross-functional team for this business unit.
Requirements
- Demonstrated technical credibility when interacting with engineers and technical founders.
- Strong capabilities in both product development and go-to-market strategies.
- A drive to build a significant business, not just launch a single product.
- Willingness to personally engage in sales, customer onboarding, and initial non-scalable tasks.
- Highly proactive, hands-on, and effective in undefined environments.
- Ability to transition between strategic planning, customer discussions, product decisions, and execution.
- Desire to own an entire business rather than a specific function.
- Familiarity with developer platforms, distributed systems, workload isolation, infrastructure economics, APIs, reliability, and security.
