What you'll do
- Lead the design and implementation of data management strategies that align with business objectives and enhance data governance across the organization.
- Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and other stakeholders to develop and maintain data models that support business intelligence and analytics initiatives.
- Establish and enforce data quality standards, ensuring that data is accurate, consistent, and reliable for reporting and analysis.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to data management processes, including data dictionaries, data lineage, and data governance policies.
- Conduct regular audits of data management practices to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes to enhance data integrity.
- Facilitate training sessions and workshops to educate team members on data management best practices and the importance of data governance.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for data-related inquiries, providing guidance and support to teams across the organization.
- Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure that data management practices comply with relevant regulations and industry standards, including GDPR and data privacy laws.
- Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies in data management, providing recommendations for tools and techniques that could benefit the organization.
- Work closely with senior leadership to align data management initiatives with overall business strategy and objectives.
- Analyze data usage patterns and provide insights to optimize data storage and retrieval processes, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Participate in cross-departmental projects to ensure that data management considerations are integrated into broader business initiatives.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in data management, data governance, or a related field, with a proven track record of leading data initiatives.
- Strong understanding of data management frameworks, methodologies, and best practices, including data quality, data lineage, and metadata management.
- Proficiency in data modeling tools and techniques, with experience in designing and implementing data architectures.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and translate findings into actionable insights.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with data governance tools and platforms, as well as knowledge of relevant compliance regulations (e.g., GDPR).
Nice to have
- Advanced degree in Data Science, Information Management, or a related field.
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as SQL, Python, or R for data manipulation and analysis.
- Knowledge of machine learning concepts and their application in data management.
- Previous experience in a leadership role, mentoring and guiding junior team members.
