Product Designer II

About the role

Bestow is looking for a Product Designer II to enhance our Underwriting module. You will be responsible for designing key features within our workbench, transforming complicated underwriting and management processes into straightforward, efficient, and reliable user experiences. We seek a designer skilled in research and rapid idea development.

What you'll do

• Lead the entire design process for assigned projects, from initial problem definition and research to prototyping, testing, and collaborating with engineering during implementation.
• Conduct user research, including interviews, usability tests, and data analysis, to support design choices and shape product direction.
• Work with product managers to define problems, explore solutions, and establish success metrics, especially in early-stage development.
• Create visual representations of design direction, such as user flows, diagrams, Figma mockups, and interactive prototypes, for clear communication with stakeholders and development teams.
• Participate in shared code repositories, reviewing existing prototypes, making updates with AI tools, and working alongside engineers during the build phase.
• Ensure design quality and integrity are maintained while considering technical limitations.
• Actively participate in design reviews and contribute to raising the overall quality of design work within the team.
• Advocate for user-centered design principles in a regulated environment where trust, auditability, and operational clarity are paramount.

Requirements

• Hold a Bachelor's degree or possess equivalent professional experience.
• Have 3-5 years of experience in product design, with a preference for work on complex or regulated products like fintech, healthcare, enterprise B2B, or insurance.
• Present a portfolio showcasing systems thinking, a process from research to shipped product, and attention to detail in both interaction and visual design.
• Demonstrate a history of delivering impactful product work, even when the development path was not straightforward.
• Be proficient in Figma and modern prototyping techniques.
• Possess practical experience building or modifying designs within an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) or code-based setting, not just observing others.
• Be comfortable reading and navigating code-based prototypes and collaborating within shared code repositories.

• Have experience using AI in your design workflow, with specific examples of its application and impact.
• Have experience contributing to or working with design systems and component libraries.
• Possess strong analytical abilities, comfortable using both qualitative and quantitative data to inform decisions.
• Exhibit excellent communication skills and a proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Be comfortable working with ambiguity and making progress with incomplete information.
