About the role
Baseten is seeking an Immigration and Mobility Lead to manage global hiring and employee relocation. This role is crucial for enabling the company to attract and support talent from around the world. You will be the internal authority on immigration, relocation, and international employment strategies.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Manage the complete immigration process for the US, covering all visa types from initial offers to renewals and permanent residency.
- Oversee visa sponsorships facilitated through Employer of Record (EOR) partners.
- Act as Baseten's internal immigration specialist, collaborating with external legal counsel and vendors.
- Monitor changes in US immigration laws and provide clear guidance to employees and leadership.
- Design a smooth relocation experience for employees and their families moving to San Francisco, New York, or other global locations.
- Advise on international hiring and employment, including cross-border tax, compliance, and global mobility considerations.
- Work with Legal, Finance, and People teams to support international expansion and the creation of new global offices.
- Develop scalable processes, documentation, and internal training to ensure organized and transparent immigration and mobility experiences.
Requirements
- 5+ years of direct experience managing US and Canadian business immigration across various visa categories and permanent residency paths.
- Demonstrated ability to handle complex immigration situations with sound judgment, discretion, and attention to detail.
- Up-to-date knowledge of the US immigration landscape, with a proactive approach to monitoring and responding to policy shifts.
- Strong background in advising on international employment arrangements, including cross-border compliance and employment tax.
- Experience creating and maintaining scalable internal documentation, knowledge bases, and audit-ready case tracking systems.
- Exceptional communication skills, being proactive, clear, and empathetic, instilling confidence in employees during uncertain processes.
- Highly organized and capable of managing multiple concurrent cases quickly and accurately without compromising quality.
- A high-ownership, systems-focused leader who can operate effectively in both established environments and rapidly growing startups, balancing risk management with hiring speed.
