About the role
Base is seeking its first Workplace Lead to establish and refine workplace operations as the company expands its workforce and physical footprint. This role involves planning and executing new office launches across the US, ensuring a high standard of organization and experience at all company sites. It is a hands-on, foundational position that includes managing current Workplace Associates and building out new support teams.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Oversee all existing workplace operations and manage the launch of new warehouse office sites nationwide.
- Travel to new site launches for at least one week per launch, with a new site expected every 1-2 months.
- Develop and lead the Workplace team, defining staffing needs and growing the team efficiently while maintaining high standards.
- Guide space planning for the rapidly growing HQ and future expansions into adjacent buildings to accommodate staff increases.
- Manage all vendor relationships and contracts for Workplace, including negotiations, renewal tracking, and performance oversight.
- Collaborate with IT and Deployments for new site setups and ongoing management of workplace issues and improvements.
- Establish and implement standards for an in-office culture across all sites, ensuring consistency among individual Workplace teams.
- Contribute to the planning for Base's future combined HQ and factory campus, aiming for completion in early 2028.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience managing workplace or operations for a rapidly growing startup with multiple locations.
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead a small team directly.
- Strong project management capabilities and excellent planning skills for physical operations.
- Comfortable working in environments with limited existing structure or processes, and capable of creating them from scratch.
- Sound judgment regarding expenditures, priorities, and what is most important.
- Willingness to travel approximately one week per month to both new and existing locations.
