This position involves developing the core data infrastructure for our finance operations. You will create a centralized financial data warehouse and a reporting cube to organize transactions into understandable business dimensions. This role ensures finance has reliable, self-service access to accurate data, eliminating analytical bottlenecks.

What you'll do

• Design and manage the finance data warehouse, including pipelines to extract general ledger data from our ERP and integrate asset registers, budgets, actuals, and forecasts.
• Construct the general ledger reporting cube with business-friendly dimensions, account hierarchies, and pre-calculated metrics for detailed financial analysis.
• Implement rigorous testing and validation to ensure data accuracy, reconciling all numbers with the general ledger and establishing controls.
• Collaborate with accounting to define the foundational dimensional structure (entity, department, account, absorption, product splits) for consistent reporting.
• Facilitate consolidation and budget-versus-actuals analysis by joining forecasts with actuals in the cube, providing drill-down capabilities for variances.
• Develop reporting interfaces for monthly close (Excel), company-wide business intelligence, and AI agent access to a single source of truth.
• Expand the platform as the company grows, supporting new reporting needs like forecast cubes, asset management, and tax equity fund reporting.

Requirements

• 3-7 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or BI development, with at least one financial reporting platform (warehouse and semantic layer) deployed in production.
• Expert proficiency in SQL and dimensional modeling (facts, dimensions, hierarchies), along with fundamental pipeline skills for reliable ERP data movement.
• Practical understanding of accounting principles, including chart of accounts, debits/credits, and close calendars, to translate financial concepts into data models.
• A strong focus on data correctness, ensuring all numbers reconcile with the general ledger and treating discrepancies as defects.
• A founder's mentality, taking ownership of projects from initial scope to deployment and growing the function.
• Experience working with AI agents as primary data consumers and using AI to enhance development speed.
• Clear communication skills to explain complex financial data to stakeholders in plain language, prioritizing validated results over technical diagrams.
