About the role
Ohana Child Development Center is seeking part-time substitute teachers to support our Montessori and RIE-based programs for children aged 4 months to 5 years. This role involves stepping in for lead teachers as needed, with the potential to transition into a permanent full-time teaching position.

What you'll do
- Provide daily care for children, including diapering and toileting, using Montessori and RIE methods.
- Maintain constant visual supervision and ensure the safety of all children.
- Adapt to changing classroom assignments and schedules while remaining flexible to business needs.
- Keep the classroom organized, clean, and safe.
- Apply positive discipline strategies and model pro-social behavior.
- Build respectful relationships with families, children, and staff members.
- Communicate effectively with co-teachers regarding classroom updates.
- Complete required training hours and certifications to maintain licensing standards.
- Respond to on-call and last-minute scheduling requests.
Requirements
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Willingness to learn and implement Montessori and RIE practices.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Must complete or hold certifications for CPR/First Aid, ITS-SIDS Safe Sleep, child maltreatment recognition, TB screening, and a health questionnaire.
Nice to have
- Early Childhood Certificate.
- Prior experience with infants, toddlers, or preschool-aged children, specifically within Montessori or RIE environments.
