About the role
Bandwidth is seeking an Internal Applications Engineer to build and maintain the systems that power our global communications network. You will develop automation workflows, integrate internal APIs, and deploy AI-driven tools to improve operational efficiency. This role involves working across the full stack to ship production-ready software alongside senior engineering staff.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Identify and automate manual processes using workflow orchestration and generative AI.
- Develop internal applications using React and FastAPI, deployed on containerized infrastructure.
- Manage integrations between operational platforms like HubSpot and ServiceNow using Python, n8n, and Windmill.
- Build and maintain data pipelines to move information into Snowflake.
- Utilize LLM APIs from providers like OpenAI and Anthropic to create intelligent internal tools.
- Write Python and JavaScript scripts to handle API connections and repetitive task automation.
- Test solutions, incorporate user feedback, and refine tools for production use.
- Document workflows and technical processes to support team knowledge sharing.
- Ensure all automated processes adhere to data security and privacy standards.
- Assist IT with troubleshooting and provide technical support to team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience.
- Production-level experience with Python or JavaScript.
- Proficiency in REST API integration.
- Experience with AI development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot.
- Familiarity with automated testing frameworks like Pytest or Vitest.
- Exposure to containerization via Docker or cloud platforms like AWS.
- Understanding of software fundamentals including data structures, control flow, and authentication patterns.
- Ability to interpret API logs, documentation, and error messages to resolve issues.
Nice to have
- Experience with workflow automation platforms like n8n, Windmill, or UI Bakery.
- Proficiency with Git for version control and incremental code reviews.
- Ability to write clear technical documentation for end users and developers.
