Business Development Manager EU (English speaker) at Back Market
About the role
Back Market operates a global marketplace for refurbished electronics, aiming to reduce carbon emissions by extending the lifecycle of technology. We are seeking a results-oriented professional to expand our supply network by identifying, onboarding, and managing high-potential sellers across Europe and potentially the US.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Identify and engage potential sellers through industry events, competitor platforms, and other channels.
- Lead sales pitches and presentations to convert prospects into active marketplace partners.
- Manage the end-to-end onboarding process for new sellers to ensure rapid product selection growth.
- Oversee the initial performance of new partners, focusing on GMV and quality metrics before transitioning them to the Seller Success team.
- Coordinate with internal departments including Legal, Finance, Logistics, and Quality to resolve operational hurdles.
- Develop and execute enablement projects that translate market intelligence into growth strategies.
- Maintain deep knowledge of the refurbished electronics industry and competitive landscape.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in business development, account management, or sales.
- Professional fluency in English.
- Proven ability to deliver effective presentations to clients in person and via web conferencing.
- Willingness to travel for client meetings and industry tradeshows.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple internal teams.
- Ability to work effectively across different time zones and multicultural environments.
- Resilient, goal-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to overcoming challenges.
Nice to have
- Fluency in German, Mandarin, or Cantonese.
- Experience in e-commerce or high-growth startup environments.
- Familiarity with the refurbished device or broader tech industry.
- Experience with Salesforce or other CRM platforms.
- Hands-on experience with automation, competitor scraping, or data tools like SQL, BigQuery, Google Sheets, and Dust.

Practical notes
- The role follows a hybrid work policy, including 2 remote days per week, 1 remote week per quarter, and 3 flex days.
- The recruitment process consists of five stages: an initial call with Talent Acquisition, a business screening with the hiring manager, a leadership interview, a cross-functional peer interview, and a final meeting regarding company values with the executive committee.
