Business Development Intern

About the role

Back Market is seeking a Business Development Intern to support its Asian market operations. This role focuses on expanding the supply of refurbished devices by engaging and managing sellers. You will help ensure a wide selection of quality products for customers on the platform.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Qualify and onboard new sellers from Asia to grow the marketplace's product offerings.
• Manage activated sellers through direct account management and pooled coverage to boost their sales and quality performance.
• Collaborate with internal teams such as quality, logistics, finance, and legal to support new sellers.
• Identify top-performing sellers on competitor platforms with global supply origins.
• Assist with seller communications, including leading recruitment webinars, developing enablement content in Chinese and English, and executing mass communication campaigns.
• Lead business development projects that analyze market intelligence, identify opportunities and risks, and translate insights into actionable plans.
• Provide data support, build, and maintain trackers and dashboards for reporting and initiatives.

Requirements

• Seeking a 6-month internship.
• Professional fluency in both English and Mandarin.
• Strong time management skills with a clear sense of priority and ownership.
• Good organizational and communication abilities, comfortable engaging with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Detail-oriented and an active listener.
• Analytical and critical thinker, using insights for decision-making.
• Ability to work independently with high self-motivation and a positive learning attitude.
• Interest in small to medium-sized businesses and e-commerce, with prior experience in a related field preferred.
• Interest in fast-growing startups is a plus.

• Proficiency in additional languages like Cantonese, French, or German.
• Experience with Salesforce, SQL, Tableau, or AI tools.

Practical notes

• This is a hybrid role, allowing for 2 remote days per week and 1 remote work week per quarter, plus 3 flex days.
