About the role

Aurelian develops AI software to assist 911 dispatch centers by automating non-emergency call handling and providing real-time guidance during crises. We are seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to design and scale the core infrastructure that powers our voice automation and emergency support platforms.

What you'll do

• Design and maintain the architecture for our voice AI and automation systems to ensure high reliability for emergency workflows.
• Establish technical standards and improve maintenance and code review practices across the engineering team.
• Address complex technical hurdles, including audio pipeline latency optimization, AI performance evaluation, and safety guardrails.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong grasp of fundamental engineering principles and a commitment to continuous learning.
• Ability to work with high levels of autonomy in a fast-paced environment.
