Staff Software Engineer, Onsite Customer Growth

About the role

This role involves shaping the technical direction and implementation for Attentive's Onsite Customer Growth team. You will be a key technical leader, guiding the creation of features that enhance customer website experiences and drive subscriber growth. This position focuses on architectural decisions, system scalability, and mentoring other engineers.

What you'll do

• Define the technical architecture for the Onsite Growth platform, including services, APIs, and shared infrastructure.
• Lead cross-functional technical strategy with product, design, ML, and data science teams to solve complex problems.
• Proactively identify and resolve systemic engineering issues related to reliability, scalability, and technical debt.
• Build scalable backend services, APIs, and user-facing features for onsite growth.
• Improve system observability, resiliency, and performance for fast and reliable onsite experiences.
• Mentor and develop other engineers through technical feedback and growth sponsorship.
• Contribute to a strong engineering culture through technical leadership and customer impact focus.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a history of leading complex systems.
• Demonstrated staff-level impact, having shaped architectural decisions for an entire product area or platform.
• Deep proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java or TypeScript.
• Experience designing distributed systems, APIs, and microservices, with a strong grasp of reliability, scalability, and performance.
• Excellent technical communication skills, including writing RFCs, leading design reviews, and explaining complex tradeoffs.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and modern developer tooling.
• A history of developing other engineers through mentorship and code review.
• Curiosity, strong collaboration skills, and a genuine interest in building products that drive customer growth.
