About the role
Astro Mechanica is a vertically integrated aerospace company focused on making supersonic travel flexible, accessible, and sustainable for the future. The company is building the digital backbone that enables teams to design, manufacture, and deliver aircraft at scale. As the first dedicated PLM hire, you will own how product data moves through the organization from initial CAD models to released hardware on the factory floor. In the near term, the company is developing adaptable, high-speed systems to close aircraft performance gaps for the United States government.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Own the architecture, implementation, and daily operation of Teamcenter, NX, and related engineering systems that support product development
- Design scalable workflows, standards, and automation that increase velocity for engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams across the company
- Assess make-versus-buy decisions for engineering tools and workflows, then implement or administer the chosen solutions based on team needs
- Configure and extend Teamcenter using BMIDE, APIs, scripting, and custom development techniques to meet evolving requirements
- Build and integrate tools that enable a smooth flow of product data across the entire organization from design to release
- Troubleshoot engineering systems and user workflows to keep product development moving without interruption or unnecessary delays
- Define the long-term roadmap for Astro Mechanica engineering systems while staying hands-on in daily execution and problem solving
- Support users in solving immediate problems while designing scalable systems that enable engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain to grow faster
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to understand their system needs and translate them into technical solutions
- Maintain and improve product data management, configuration management, and engineering change management processes to ensure data integrity and traceability
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field from an accredited institution
- Five or more years of experience administering, developing, or architecting PLM systems in a product development environment
- Hands-on experience with Siemens Teamcenter, NX, and BMIDE in a professional engineering or manufacturing context
- Experience developing automation using Python, APIs, or other scripting languages to improve engineering workflows and system integration
- Experience implementing or integrating ERP and other enterprise engineering systems within a product development or manufacturing organization
- Demonstrated knowledge of product lifecycle management, engineering change management, configuration management, and product data management principles and practices
- Experience supporting engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain organizations in their system administration and workflow optimization needs
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to solve complex technical problems across software, infrastructure, and engineering workflows
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Duality propulsion system or other aerospace-specific technologies used in supersonic flight and high-speed platform design
- Experience working in a fast-moving, flat-structure startup environment with generalist depth and specialist focus across multiple disciplines
- Background in supersonic or high-speed flight systems development and adaptable high-speed platform design for government or commercial applications
- Knowledge of manufacturing floor operations and hardware release processes from initial CAD modeling through to factory floor production

- Siemens Teamcenter administration, configuration, and ongoing system maintenance for product development environments
- Siemens NX CAD system management and administration within engineering and manufacturing workflows
- BMIDE for Teamcenter customization, extension, and custom development to meet specific business requirements
- Python scripting for automation, integration, and engineering system workflows across the organization
- API development and integration workflows for product data flow between engineering and enterprise systems
- ERP system implementation, administration, and enterprise engineering system integration in product development contexts
- Product data management and configuration management principles applied to aerospace and manufacturing environments
- Engineering change management processes and standards for maintaining product data integrity and traceability
Practical notes
- This role requires in-office presence five days per week as Astro Mechanica values in-person collaboration and company culture highly
- The position is based in San Francisco at the company office and requires full-time commitment to the role
