Junior Software Developer for Hedge Fund at Astor Group.
About the role
This position involves working within the engineering team at Astor Group, where you will engage in various projects related to data management and workflow development. You will partner with experienced engineers, researchers, and other team members to gather requirements and create effective internal tools for the hedge fund.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Execute projects through both personal contributions and by guiding internal and external personnel.
- Offer production support for critical systems, including signal dashboards, portfolio management, external trade feeds, risk management, and operational/accounting systems.
- Apply modern architectural practices to improve existing APIs, frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and testing environments.
- Conduct data analysis and reconciliations to ensure system performance.
- Participate in the firm's AI initiatives by integrating large language models and AI-driven workflows into internal tools and research processes.
Requirements
- A solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and strong programming skills.
- Excellent communication abilities and a collaborative mindset.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving orientation.
- Proficiency in SQL, including database design principles and query optimization.
- Familiarity with one or more programming languages such as C#, JavaScript, or TypeScript, with knowledge of frameworks like Angular or React being advantageous.
- Basic knowledge of Python is a plus.
- Experience in front-end development.
- Understanding of AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) and a considered approach to their use in production environments.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, such as Electrical Engineering.
Nice to have
- Experience with mortgage-backed securities, whole loans, structured products, portfolio management systems, and accounting practices.
- Exposure to corporate credit products like collateralized loan obligations, corporate bonds, or bank loans.
