Internal Billing & Revenue Cycle Specialist

About the role

Assist World is hiring an experienced specialist to manage the entire revenue cycle for a behavioral health practice. You will handle everything from initial charge capture and claim submission to patient collections and denial management. This role requires a professional who can work independently to support the practice leadership with accurate financial reporting.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Manage the full billing lifecycle including charge entry, claim submission, payment posting, and AR follow-up.
• Act as the main point of contact for insurance payers and patients regarding billing inquiries.
• Resolve claim denials, rejections, and underpayments through corrected claims and appeals.
• Oversee patient collections, manage payment plans, and ensure accurate account reconciliation.
• Provide compassionate customer support via phone, explaining benefits, deductibles, and balances to families.
• Prepare and present financial performance reports, including AR aging and denial trends, for weekly meetings with the CEO.
• Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and ensure all documentation meets medical necessity requirements.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in medical billing and revenue cycle management.
• Proven experience specifically in behavioral health billing, including CPT and ICD-10 coding.
• Hands-on expertise with Medicare Part B claims, with the ability to manage these independently.
• Current HIPAA certification.
• Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint for reporting purposes.
• Strong communication skills for handling sensitive financial conversations with patients.

Nice to have

• Experience with eClinicalWorks or similar EMR systems.
• Background in Medicaid billing.
• Familiarity with EAP insurance plans such as Lyra or ComPsych.
