About the role
Asset Living is seeking a Regional Vice President for Affordable Housing to lead operations and strategy across its affordable housing portfolio in the Pacific Northwest region. This senior leadership position oversees property management teams, financial performance, and compliance with federal and state affordable housing programs. The role reports to the national leadership team and is responsible for driving growth, operational excellence, and resident satisfaction across all assigned markets. The successful candidate will bring extensive experience in affordable housing finance, property operations, and team development to this pivotal position. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this individual will shape the strategic direction for affordable housing initiatives and ensure alignment with Asset Living's mission to provide quality, accessible homes for low-income families.

What you'll do
Direct regional affordable housing property operations and ensure full compliance with HUD and LIHTC federal regulations. Manage a comprehensive portfolio of affordable housing communities across the assigned Pacific Northwest territory. Develop and execute detailed annual business plans to achieve revenue growth and occupancy targets. Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting for all properties in the assigned region. Recruit, train, mentor, and retain qualified on-site property managers and administrative support staff. Collaborate with asset managers and regional teams to maximize property performance and resident satisfaction. Monitor federal and state regulatory changes and update operating procedures to maintain full compliance. Build and sustain relationships with local housing authorities, community organizations, and government stakeholders. Conduct regular property inspections to ensure quality standards, safety compliance, and resident satisfaction. Lead capital improvement planning and coordinate with maintenance teams to address deferred maintenance needs. Partner with finance and accounting teams to review property-level performance metrics and identify opportunities for cost reduction and revenue enhancement. Support the national acquisitions team by evaluating potential affordable housing investments and conducting due diligence on new property acquisitions.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in real estate, business administration, or a related field is required. Minimum of ten years of experience in affordable housing or multi-family property management. Demonstrated track record of managing regional operations and leading large cross-functional teams. In-depth knowledge of HUD regulations, LIHTC compliance, and affordable housing finance programs. Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, variance analysis, and profit and loss management. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement at all organizational levels. Ability to travel frequently across the region and occasionally beyond for meetings and inspections. Prior experience supervising or mentoring property management professionals and building high-performing teams. Proven ability to manage multiple properties simultaneously while maintaining high standards of service and operational efficiency. Strong understanding of fair housing laws and equal opportunity compliance as they apply to property management operations.
Nice to have
Master's degree in real estate development, public administration, or business administration is preferred. Familiarity with Yardi or similar property management software platforms and reporting tools. Experience with tax credit syndication or low-income housing tax credit transactions and financing. Established network of relationships with affordable housing funders, government agencies, and community partners.

Practical notes
This role is based in Seattle, Washington and requires regular on-site presence at regional properties. The position involves significant travel across the Pacific Northwest region on a weekly basis.
