About the role
The Principal DevOps Engineer will take on a key leadership role, focusing on the management of application engineering and DevOps practices. This position ensures a reliable and efficient application environment for development, testing, and production. The role includes providing technical guidance to the DevOps team and addressing application issues in various environments while assessing innovative solutions and identifying risks and costs.

What you'll do
- Manage the processes for server builds, deployments, packaging, integration, automation, and software releases.
- Work closely with teams to assess monitoring and performance, establishing standards and consistent practices around Infrastructure as Code.
- Develop processes to automate scripts for software builds and deployments, enhancing the efficiency of the pipeline.
- Engage in technology and architecture discussions, contributing to the development of solutions architecture and automation templates for infrastructure provisioning and management.
- Research and evaluate new tools and technologies, building consensus for cost-effective solutions to enhance the software development lifecycle (SDLC) pipeline.
- Provide daily technical leadership to application engineers and promote DevOps principles within the team.
- Continuously seek optimization opportunities and build a comprehensive strategy for supporting production applications.
- Oversee machine configuration, test infrastructure, and virtual machine deployment.
- Ensure the protection and security of client data held by Ascensus to prevent unauthorized access and improper transmission of information.

Supervision
- Lead project teams, providing problem-solving support and innovative solutions for infrastructure needs.
- Collaborate with technology leaders across the organization to optimize environments.
- Focus on mentoring and coaching team members without direct people management responsibilities.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of hands-on experience in DevOps, Build/Deployment, and Engineering & Operations.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and associated tools.
- Practical experience in production environments, deploying and troubleshooting applications on Linux systems.
- Proficient in automation using scripting languages such as Bash, Python, Groovy, and other deployment scripting languages.
- Strong background in CI/CD deployment for Java technologies, including Jenkins, Nexus, Apache, JBoss, Tomcat, and Perforce/Git.
- Highly skilled in Configuration Management tools like Ansible, Chef, or similar.
- Hands-on experience with containerization technologies, specifically Docker and Kubernetes.
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture, design patterns, and best practices focusing on scalability, automation, resiliency, high availability, and disaster recovery.
- Comprehensive knowledge of networking, load balancing, caching, security, configuration, and certificate management.
- A Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with key AWS services such as IAM, VPC, Lambda, EKS, MSK, Keyspace, and CodePipeline.
- Experience with the Java ecosystem, including Maven, Ant, Tomcat, and JBoss.
- Knowledge of the Node ecosystem, including JavaScript, Angular, Npm, and JQuery.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform.
- Understanding of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and distributed computing principles.
- Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD) practices and automated testing frameworks.
